1. Cutting
All substrates may be custom cut to your specified size using a variety of glass thickness and materials (listed below). Normal cutting dimensional tolerance
+/- 0.010". For more specific material thickness information, visit: www.eriecustomglass.com.
  • Available Substrate Materials
    • Special EVR Microarray Substrates, one thickness (0.039" – 0.041") thick, <10 mc variation flat
    • EVR, water white, low fluorescing, soda lime glass. (0.030" – 0.125")
    • Float, soda lime glass (0.020" – 0.188"), (0.508mm – 4.775mm)
    • Borosilicate glass (0.0033" – 0.0236"), (0.08mm – 0.6mm)
    • B-270 (0.0366" – 0.042"), (0.93mm – 1.07mm)
    • Borofloat (0.130"), (3.3mm)

2. Cleaning
Choose among several levels of cleaning:

  • UltraClean (standard microarray level)
  • Prewash (cleaned prior to cutting)
  • No wash (cut and pack—protective dust only)
  • System wash (submergence technique, large quantities & small sizes)
  • Brush wash (post cutting wash)

5. Inspections
Standard for Microarray level and Included for all UltraClean Wash:

Microarray Level Inspection—100% Visual Inspection, (20-20) through rotating glass, black background, for scratches, blemishes, and cleanliness using high intensity light at 100% power.
    • Dimensional Criteria: NA
    • Edge Quality Criteria: NA
    • Surface Quality Criteria: Defects only allowed within 0.050" of edges, otherwise 0 scratches allowed, 0 pits & digs allowed.
    • Cleanliness Quality Criteria: 0 Fingerprints, 0 oils, 0 moisture, 0 water marks, 0 drying marks, 0 embedded particulates. No foreign loose particulates, (materials other than glass or paper), that cannot be removed by air blow-off by customer.

6. QC Samplings and Inspections

Work Site Observations—Plate observed in diffused lighting, no back lighting, plate not turned or aligned with any light source, Observer has 20/20 vision.

QC Inspection Levels:
    • Non-Select—Sampling at 1% Minimum, not <2 parts.
      Dimensional Criteria: Yes, To Work Order Specifications.
      Edge Quality Criteria: None.
      Surface Quality Criteria: None.
      QC Cleanliness Quality Criteria: None.
    • Commercial—Sampling at 1% Minimum, not <2 parts, Work Site Observations, (no back lighting).
      Dimensional Criteria: Yes, To Work Order Specifications.
      Edge Quality Criteria: Some minor chips allowed, not >1/2 glass thickness X not >0.070" long or deep, not >3 / edge.
      Surface Quality Criteria: Some surface scratches not >1", 3 minor defects allowed / plate.
      QC Cleanliness Quality Criteria: not <4 on Erie 1-10.
    • Premium—Sampling at 1% Minimum, not <2 parts, Work Site Observations, (no back lighting).
      Dimensional Criteria: Yes, To Work Order Specifications.
      Edge Quality Criteria: Some minor chips allowed, not >1/2 glass thickness X not >0.050" long or deep, not >2 / edge.
      Surface Quality Criteria: Some surface scratches not >.5", 2 minor defects allowed / plate.
      QC Cleanliness Quality Criteria: not <6 on Erie 1-10, 0 visible fingerprints, 0 oils, 0 moisture, 0 embedded particulates, 0 water marks, 0 drying marks.
    • Optical—Sampling at 1% Minimum, not <2 parts, Low Intensity Back
      lighting Used.

      Dimensional Criteria: Yes, To Work Order Specifications.
      Edge Quality Criteria: Same as Premium.
      Surface Quality Criteria: 0 Scratches allowed >1mm, 0 pits & digs >400µm.
      QC Cleanliness Quality Criteria: not <8, Erie 1-10, 0 visible fingerprints, 0 oils, 0 moisture, 0 embedded particulates, 0 water marks, 0 drying marks.

7. Packaging
Choose among several levels of packaging:

  • Vacuum seal in foil bag (standard microarray)
  • Rack pack, no glass to glass contact (standard microarray)
  • Stack in boxes
  • Interleaf & stack
  • Envelope pack
